Open sound, tailored to little ears: Introducing JBL Junior FREE
JBL expands its Junior headphones range with its first open-ear headphones designed especially for kids.
London, November 4, 2025 – Bringing open sound to a new generation. JBL Junior FREE combines JBL OpenSound with JBL Safe Sound to offer kids a safe, fun listening experience. Featuring an open-ear design made especially for little ears, advanced parental noise and playtime controls, and a vibrant design, JBL Junior FREE delivers kid-friendly JBL Sound in a playful package.
Play it safe
JBL Junior FREE gives kids safe sound, and parents' peace of mind. JBL OpenSound provides high-quality sound without obstructing the ear canal, meaning kids can focus on their e-learning task or watch videos and listen to music while still hearing the world around them.
Thanks to JBL Safe Sound, parents have more control over kids’ listening. Tap the JBL Headphones app to provide real-time volume and activity time indicators, and daily or weekly activity reports on volume and time exposure to help maintain safe listening habits.
Designed for kids, tested by kids
JBL Junior FREE’s open-ear design has been carefully tested to create the best fit for small ears. Perfect for car journeys or home learning sessions, Junior FREE uses soft silicone materials and is purposely lightweight to provide all-day comfort. With kids, one size doesn’t fit all. The neckband is flexible so it can sit comfortably, no matter how fast they’re growing up.
With bigger, kid-friendly buttons, splashproof design, wireless Bluetooth connectivity for tangle-free tunes, and up to 10 hours of battery life, Junior FREE is built to keep up with little ones and their big adventures.
Fuel the fun
Designed to encourage creativity, the JBL Junior FREE packaging can be transformed into a phone stand and personalised with fun stickers featuring characters and bold colourful letters.
“In recent years, we have seen a surge in adults choosing open sound as their preferred way of listening. With JBL Junior FREE, we are extending this freedom to children,” said Carsten Olesen, President of Consumer Audio at HARMAN. “At JBL, we are committed to providing everyone with great sound. Combining Safe Sound with JBL OpenSound, JBL Junior FREE does this, while simultaneously creating a safe experience designed specifically for children.”
JBL Junior FREE will be available from November in Purple, Teal and Peach for £69.99/€79,99 at jbl.com.
